ST Touring 2007.02

Happy New Year! The South American tour was amazing and the highlight was of course, Argentina! My set was extended in Cordoba and I ended up playing for 8 hours as it was that good and the party never seemed to end. I’m getting ready to launch the Renaissance: The Masters world tour that will kick off in London at The Cross. I’m looking forward to another awesome party across the pond.

Def Mix will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year and the first party will be held in Miami during Winter Music Conference on March 22nd @ Shine. Def Mix has truly been like a family for me so a big congratulations to all of us – Judy Weinstein, David Morales, Frankie Knuckles, Hector Romero, Jeffrey Allen, Susan Cistone, Brian Webster and Dennis Wheeler.

Renaissance SATOSHI TOMIIE The Masters Series PART9

Renaissance Masters by Satoshi Tomiie

The 2xCD mix is complete and delivered! This exciting series will celebrate one of the DJ masters of our time. Satoshi spent a considerable amount of time, compiling the tracks and mixing both discs to get the right edits and keys in the mix. Disc 1 is a collection of early tunes with a deep and warm vibe. It continues on in Disc 2 and takes the musical energy to the next level. With 24 tracks, the album is a reflection of the current times and flows seamlessly across the two CDs. The album will be out in March 2007. Check back here for the tracklisting next month.

  Dan Berkson / People

Dan Berkson “People”
SAW 0054
Release Date: February 19th

First and foremost a keyboard player, Dan Berkson was playing music six nights a week in his hometown of Chicago by the age of 16. He entered the New England Conservatory of Music in 1993 and quickly immersed himself in the worlds of jazz, funk and soul. While at NEC, he studied with such jazz greats as Danilo Perez, Cecil Mcbee and George Russell. Dan co-founded "The Daddys", a funk band which won numerous awards and gained a loyal fan base in the Boston area.
As his interests turned more towards House, Dub and electronic music, he went to London to study production and immersed himself in the UK's forward-thinking music scene. Since then, Berkson has released tracks on Moodmusic, Movim, Exun, Gourmet, Household, and also has upcoming releases on Poker Flat, Crosstown Rebels and many more. His deeply funky, techno-fied style finds its way into the boxes of countless DJs across the globe.

“People” is synthesized Electro funk at its best and takes us back to the experimental synth pop sound of Kraftwerk. “People” merges driving electronic percussion and basslines with a catchy synthesized melody and vox lyrics. Berkson’s brilliant production injects a nice dose of funk into the mix, similar to the Break-beat genius of Afrika Bambaatta, to create a well-rounded piece of electronic music. This is a great Electro track for all the IDM fans and DJs and will bring bop n’ bounce to any dance floor.

“Wow… That Orig mix just put me in the zone, haunting but happy.
