Touring 2006.06

Summer is coming and with that comes the annual festival season. First off, the South Fest in Buenos Aires was an amazing experience. The city has never let me down and I still think it is the best city to DJ. More festivals are on the way – the Colours Fest in Glasgow and Sonar in Barcelona. Then I’m finally back in North America for my second gig at Crobar New York and my debut in Las Vegas at the Ice nightclub. Then it’s another summer in Ibiza with Saturdays @ Pacha with Def Mix/SAW Recordings. Saw’s opening party is June 17th with Hector Romero. I’ve just confirmed a date in Tokyo @ Womb, so I plan on spending some time there and recouping from my world tour. See you on the dancefloor!

SAW Release 2006.06
SAW050: SATOSHI TOMIIE “GLOW” Release Date: June 19, 2006

Those familiar with the big room sound of Satoshi Tomiie got a taste of his deeper side with the recent Satoshi Tomiie ‘ES-B’ and ‘Renaissance 3D’ compilations. The original mix of “Glow” (originally featured on ‘ES-B’) embraces dreamy atmospherics, eclectic production and a heavy supply of deep funk. A sure hit for fans of Swayzak, Martin Landsky and Steve Bug’s Poker Flat Recordings.

The Belgium-based duo Spirit Catcher are on remix duties. They have been on fire with productions surfacing on labels such as 20:20 Vision, Freerange, Missive and Moodmusic. They have brought their highly polished sound to “Glow” and turned it loose, resulting in a rocking rendition that glows in the first few minutes then explodes to a shimmering future disco rocker.

SAW052: Jim Rivers “Restore EP”
Release Date: June 5, 2006

After getting some feedback on his tracks from local DJ’s and producers, Jim set about carving his own sound. With his first two fully fledged tracks completed, he sent out some emails hoping to get some feedback…That’s when Saw stepped in and decided to sign both of Jim’s tracks. With these due for release in 2006, along with them being licensed for Satoshi Tommie’s 3D Renaissance mix, this young producer and DJ is one to watch and will be making the dance world sit up and listen.

Jim has been bubbling on the Bristol scene for the last few years, slowly gaining a reputation for his ability behind the decks and being the ‘nicest bloke in Bristol house music’!

Along with his DJing Jim has been steadily carving a sound of his own with his own original productions and edits. 2005 saw his first break through with his first two tracks, ‘Future’ and ‘Restore’ being signed to Satoshi Tomiie’s Saw Recordings imprint, one of the most respected labels in the scene. It was a good break, considering it started with a cheeky email to Satoshi telling him he needed the music on his label!

Satoshi then used both tracks on his acclaimed Renaissance 3D Compilation– and the album and Jim’s tracks have already received critical acclaim from the dance music press. www.jimrivers.co.uk
