September 2005 Tour re-cap
SATOSHI TOMIIE Samedi 10 Septembre
September has come to a close and so the end of the Ibiza season is nearly upon us and with it the end of my 2005 summer tour is now officially winding down. My second visit to Dubai was pretty cool and the beaches there are incredibly beautiful. The gig itself was excellent but unfortunately they lost the monitors (i.e. Broken!) of the DJ booth in the middle of my set so it was becoming impossible to mix but the party must go on! They are going to replace the whole system now, so I look forward to playing there next time. The Mix club in Paris was another fun party, I don’t really get a chance to play much in Paris so it would be nice to come back there more often and visit. The season opening for Magazzini Generali in Milan was awesome, packed with 3,000 people! As often as I frequent Italy, it was my first time playing there and the party impressed me very much. Meanwhile in Ibiza, both Chab and Hernan Cattaneo rocked the SAWREC parties at Pacha.

In October the month kicks off in Ibiza with a bang at the final closing party with David Morales to finish off the summer season. The summer of 2005 is now officially over. It was definitely a very busy summer with my two SAW albums out (ES & ES-B) and lots of traveling. It was a bit tough to make time to enjoy my stay in Ibiza this year. For the closing party I’ll only be on the island for a total of 15 hours and the majority of that will be spent at Pacha sending off the summer in grand style! I will be taking a few weekends off to concentrate on working in the studio as deadlines approach. I am looking forward to my upcoming Hungarian and Mexican tours where the parties are always great and the people have loads of energy, especially looking forward to playing with the Lexicon Avenue boys in Hungary, it will be loads of fun to play with them again.

Satoshi Unveils New Project for 2006: Renaissance’s new series “3D”
As we mentioned last month, Satoshi is working on a new project and we are proud to announce that it is for the esteemed UK Renaissance label. It is a new Renaissance compilation series entitled “3D” and will feature 3xCDs including 1) “Club” 2) “Home” and 3)“Studio” mixes. This is a step above any ordinary compilation as it will offer a 3-dimensional view into a DJ’s musical life spread across the three discs. The 'Club' mix will be a straight-up reflection of the sets he is currently playing in clubs, providing a snapshot of a night with Satoshi on the dancefloor. Disc 2 will be 'Home', a selection of tracks, mixed or unmixed, that Satoshi listens to in his downtime and tracks that have influenced him over the years. Disc 3 will be 'Studio', which will feature a selection of his original productions and remixes, which may include exclusives or tracks especially updated for the album.

Sounds like a lot of work doesn’t it? It sure is, but we’re very excited for this release, as it will truly showcase the multi-faceted musical talents of Satoshi Tomiie.

SLOK "LONELY CHILD" SAW044

Release Date: October 24, 2005
The original mix of “Lonely Child” was featured as the closing track on Satoshi Tomiie’s ES mix compilation. This release features the original downtempo mix and a new 12” club mix and instrumental.
Italian/French duo Slok are Alessandro Russo, better known for his productions as a member of the famed Stereonova Duo from Ancona, Italy and vocalist Eric Pasquereau, a young talented singer-songwriter from Nantes, France. Together as Slok, they are a band that have rock influences mixed with the future sound of house. On their debut release on SAW.RECORDINGS, the vocals of Eric Pasquereau on the original downtempo mix evoke a lonely, solemn and emotional landscape. The 12” Club Mix layers in an acid bassline with a dark groove & progressive vibe that is now signature SAW.Recordings.

Thanks to everybody who voted in this years DJ MAG Top 100 Poll!

Now that the summer has come to an end, be sure to pick up Satoshi’s ES & ES-B albums - a lasting memento to keep you toasty at the first sign of frost.

“Satoshi Tomiie has pulled off a nice trick, producing two discs that hold up equally well on their own but gain a degree of additional significance when considered together. He's a fine DJ but he also has a canny ear for generic synthesis which sets him apart from many of his peers as well as a satisfying historical perspective. He builds sets with an ear towards (musical) progression and storytelling, and the results are rarely less than interesting.” –POPMATTERS.com
